As an Employment Development Coach (EDC) you will be responsible for seeking and securing non-paid or paid employment for individuals (between the ages of 18 to 59) who are diagnosed with an intellectual disability. The primary function of the coach is to assist the individuals served with discovering their vocational interests to seek career opportunities that align with their desires and ensure that the individuals served are satisfied with their placement.

The Employment Development Coach (EDC) must be energetic, resourceful, and align with the company’s CORE VALUES, which are about being: compassionate, accountable, honest, emotionally intelligent, and willing to learn.

Specific Duties

  • Assess an intern’s vocational interests and align them with job opportunities.
  • Develop and facilitate opportunities for interns to practice job-related skills and mobility training on public transportation.
  • Tailor and customize daily activities to each intern’s career objectives.
  • Assess skill level and implement training as needed.
  • Assist interns in identifying opportunities in the community and at work or volunteer sites that would allow them to hone their collateral skills leading to future job retention.
  • Manage, monitor, and track the intern’s accomplishments and progress toward goals on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Create opportunities to assist interns in participating and engaging in work-related environments.
  • Support and engage interns and provide them with the necessary support to meet goals and objectives from their individual career plans.
  • Transport interns to and from their residence and community locations (may be required to transport using their own vehicle).

Job Locations

You will work at one of our designated facilities and commute to a variety of job sites.

Must-Haves

  • High School Certificate or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Covid-19 vaccination and booster.
  • General computer (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint) and writing skills are required.

Ongoing Requirements

  • Maintain a clean fingerprint background clearance.
  • Maintain an updated CPR and First Aid card on file.
  • Physical requirements – the ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, push, and lift 35 lbs.
  • Maintain a vehicle that is reliable and in good working condition for transporting interns and completing other assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a good driving record and updated vehicle insurance.
